Emotional Roller Coaster Read

A very creative and brilliant young Papua New Guinean with his first ever published book. An overall eloquent description of a normal lifestyle in communities knitting in values, culture, politics, economics, religion, spiritual, health, gender, identity, crime, chaos, HIV &AIDS, sports, hobbies, social network and the list goes on and on. Sibona took me to a range of emotional roller coaster such as excitement, anger, ecstatic, beaten, grieved, hopeless, alarmed, chaotic, fuming, troubled, sparking, empty, thoughtful, thrilled, zippy, etc etc. Two simple learning I gained from Sibona are empowering those who lack basic awareness, knowledge, skills and experience in a basic, fun and adaptable way. Next being humble and willing to learn from anyone you come across in life. Sibona will invite you to her own real world.

Sibona is a wonderful read with powerful characters woven together to create a vivid picture of life in a settlement of Papua New Guinea. It embodies the life and struggles of settlement kids and provides the reader with deep reflections of their struggles, the relationships they form and the deep friendships forged through hardship. Sibona represents the nation of PNG in transition; each character draws compelling similarities of the complexities the nation of PNG struggle with. But it also a story of hope, showing us that despite the overwhelming difficulties one persons can make a difference if they care enough to do something. It is a great story of resiliences, companion, connections and camaraderie values often young people in settlements have and we often overlook because of where they live. I enjoyed the book Manu.

This story tells you about normal people living, working and surviving in cities and towns of Papua New Guinea today. All the characters came from real life experiences. To a lot of Papua New Guineans this life is normal but there are Papua New Guineans who do not think it is normal and Mr Emmanuel Peni is one of them and that is why he has written this story. Reading this book made me laugh, cry, angry, sad and scared because sometimes I felt like I am in that story through my memories of my life in Papua New Guinea. I applaud Mr Peni for writing this book.

About the Author
Jodi Liano (San Francisco, CA) is an author, recipe developer, and cooking instructor at Tante Marie's Cooking School in San Francisco. She managed the development of The Tante Marie's Cooking School Cookbook, wrote recipes for Williams-Sonoma Cooking from the Farmers' Market and has worked as a food stylist, including a stint with the Food Network.

Kate Sears is an acclaimed food, still life, and travel photographer based in New York City. She is a contributor to Martha Stewart Living, Oprah Magazine, The New York Times, Food Network Magazine, Elle Decor, and Everyday with Rachel Ray among others. Her previous book projects include Jasper White’s The Summer Shack Cookbook and Martha Stewart’s Dinner at Home.

Eggs For Any Meal

I like everything about this cookbook. I like eggs for any meal and the basics are included with instructions on how to choose fresh eggs and how to cook basic fried, scrambled, boiled, and poached eggs. The recipes include all kinds of scrambles, baked eggs and casseroles, quiches, frittatas, and specialty egg dishes like eggs benedict, deviled eggs, and egg salad.

Since I am trying to stick to low-carb eating these days, many of the recipes appealed to me with the main ingredients being eggs and veggies, with meat added to some. I made the spinach, tomato, and feta cheese frittata (kind of like a quiche without a crust) for lunch and loved it.

There are lots of color photographs for inspiration, and the recipes are easy for cooks of any level with ingredients that can be found in most grocery stores. This is destined to become one of my favorite, most used cookbooks and is one I'd gladly give as a gift or recommend to friends.

I love this cookbook. I have made several of the frittatas, and they are creative and wonderful. Have made other various recipes in here, too.

My mom grew up on the farm (she is 94 now) and I have asked her what did they do for "fast food?" She said EGGS. Need I say more. Lovely, fresh, creative ways to prepare a QUICK breakfast, lunch, or light supper. Add some English Muffins and a bowl of fruit, and you have a lovely meal.

I'm also partial to the Scan Pan non-stick skillets for my eggs. Paired, the book and pan would make a lovely birthday or wedding shower gift, too. This is a cookbook I will keep going back to.

I bought this for a friend who is a great cook but , by her own admission, was a terrible baker. Lots of great tips and tricks (as usual in a 'for dummies' series book. Blueberry muffins are one of my favorites so before I gave her the book I tried out the muffin recipe. It was absolutely great! Straightforward, to the point, and with great results.

It covers the form, character and organization of the buildings and spaces in Japanese cities and particularly the relationships between the buildings, squares and streets.

The author provides a historical overview of Western attitudes to Japanese built-form and contrasts these relationships in Japan with those of the West and explores the very different ways of thinking about space and time that underpin these contrasts in city form and organizations.

Until recently Barrie Shelton was Associate Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Tasmania. He is now a consultant.

the book is expensive, but its worth it

The book is fantastic, the writing insightful about a subject on which it is hard to get information on in English. It is one person's perspective, and a foreigner one at that, but I liked what he had to say, and I don't think its uninformed.

As a well travelled architect and planner with experience in Asia, I recommend it highly...
