About the Author
John Geiger is the author of five books, including the bestsellers The Third Man Factor: Surviving the Impossible and Frozen in Time: The Fate of the Franklin Expedition. curious about what was ,left out"

There was nothing in the book about a vision ( or "being" ) who came to a person unless they were in some state of stress etc.
I have heard of other types of experiences,, when no problem was happening.>>BUT....
This book is GREAT at explaining experiences about trouble being givin HELP " ( and yes , we're probably NOT "ALONE" )
I just wonder about the " OTHER" ( non trouble type )
How about the OTHER type of experiences ,( with NO problem, No drugs, no illness, no alcohol, No danger ) ?
However,, It was good to learn about the many "helper" type of happenings , AND the different perspectives of , HOW ,why
and when etc. ( I think we all have had SOME of those experiences,,, I just wonder about the "other" things ,,Like an Angel who came to the Blessed Virgin Mary ( when she concieved )
OR some of the things like the Children of Fatima experienced. ..with " Angels",,, etc.. ( those things were "left out" ) ..
Life is full of "mystery" ,,,So it IS great to hear about the ones described in this book...

Having previously read the Third Man Factor I had an expectation of this author and his product and was not disappointed. This is an impactful read that compels some serious questioning of the materialist/reductionist paradigm we have inherited. Thank you Mr. Geiger for another great reading experience and for sharing this very important subject.

A Present Help In The Time Of Trouble

When human beings are in the throes of dire stress and great calamity there is always a "Presence" there to help and uplift them, and to bring them soothing comfort and peace.
That is the one-sentence summary of this book, and a powerful consolation that we are never truly alone in life.
While reading on this very rare topic, I had gotten the sense that the author had expended a huge amount of effort, undertaking an arduous research collecting anecdotal evidence, and analyzing scientific journals and literature, in order to put this most difficult work together.
It is filled mostly with the true stories of people's experiences while in distress. These people give account of a great presence which manifests itself either as a calm, reassuring, but very commanding voice, or as a seemingly real living person, who suddenly appear, to impart guidance and comfort.
Most of the personal accounts in the book were published for the first time ever as people are always understandably reticent in making these kinds of pseudo-mystical experiences public.
As a result, I have treated the recounting of these experiences with reverence, whilst at the same time enjoying them immensely. Not enjoyment in a humorous or frivolous way, but in the good cheer that they brought to my heart: It feels good to know that we are never alone, no matter what.
The author spent equal objective time on the scientific redundant literature that attempted to explain how this is all just the effects of a stressed human brain. Then he showed examples of experiences which totally refuted those explanations.
Overall, this was a great and informative read with positive spiritual overtones that was very uplifting in its effect.
